Board Break-A-Thon

Yesterday was the Board Break-A-Thon for tae kwon do. All the proceeds when to the Starlight Children's Foundation. Here are the girls showing their ready stances...

Starry, the foundation's mascot, wanted to break a board too. So he joined the fun and broke the first board...

This was Jamie's first time breaking the wooden boards. She has practiced on our plastic breaking board but it's not that same. These boards are about 1/4 inch thick which is thicker than normal test boards. She broke all 5 of her boards and did such a great job. She is using the Hammer Fist technique...

Then Mazie was up. She used 5 different techniques to break all 5 of her boards. She did a great job as well. This first picture she is using the Ax kick for her technique...

This last picture doesn't show her actually breaking the board but she has such a great face in it. It shows how determined she was to break that board. So I'm glad my finger was a little snap happy and snapped it too soon. She was using the front snap kick to break the board and her foot did go through.
We, then, headed to the Air Force Academy for the football game. The Falcons were hosting the Utah Utes. Before we headed into the stadium, we had a little lunch in the back of the car.

Jacob was pretty worn out after all the board breaking...

Air Force lost but it was a really good game. They played really well against Utah who is ranked #20. Air Force was ahead at the half and kept it close the entire game. Next game is against Navy!

Go Mazie and Jamie! You girls did great. . . now you can defend yourself against Jacob :-)

We were bummed about AF's lost, but it was exciting checking the game score and having it come down to the very end.

Fantastic job, Mazie and Jamie. So proud of both of you and so happy to see that both of you are doing so well with tae kwon do. Look forward to seeing both of you at some of your practices real soon.
Sorry to hear about AF. By the way, PSU won again 45-3.
