Thursday Things

We had a lovely cookout with friends on Saturday. We had a total of 17 kids here! Rachel grabbed my camera and snapped some photos of the kids playing...
This one makes me laugh because, as I was getting desserts ready to serve, I sat the plate of whoopie pies down next to Brian. He put his hands around the base of the plate and didn't remove them until everyone had what they wanted. Like he was protecting them...
And then noticed that Rachel caught him...
She also took a picture of the yummy chocolate fudge cake I made. Although it was yummy, it was a lot of work for a three layer cake. I think I will stick to my original chocolate cake recipe.
Monday we took the kids to the park, along with some charcoal and food. While Jeremiah grilled, the kids played...
This is what my 2 (and almost a half *sigh*) year old thinks of mom taking pictures...
Then he spotted the bag of chips. He inserted his hands into the bag and, without looking at me, asked if he could have "chips. pweese" in his little manly voice. This is the voice he uses when he does not want any nonsense. Just give me the answer I want and we will be ok!
He saw he was missing out on some fun and wanted to try it out too. It was a little too much spinning for him. He would get off and then run in the grass, fall over, and yell, "Dizzy".
And this was this afternoon after we picked up Jamie from school. He was waiting all morning for her to get home so they could watch WordWorld together. I think he was more interested in going for the nap after the show. But he HAS to watch WordWorld first.

Ok, so we had a rough night with Mazie. She came over to our room at 3:30am. She said she could not stop thinking about snakes. After we tucked her back into bed, she came over again. Jeremiah took her to her bed, this time with lots of crying and yelling (on Mazie's part). She cried about how she wanted to sleep with Jamie. We do not let the girls sleep together on school nights. It's a rule. Always has been. Jamie was awake from all the hubbub but didn't want her in her bed anyway. Finally at 5am, Jeremiah decided to take her downstairs to start the day. He started making his coffee and told her to get a book. She was not going to watch tv or just lay on the couch. When he told her that at 6am he was going to get ready and go to work and that she would have to be downstairs by herself, she decided she would go back to bed and try sleeping. This isn't the first time it happened but we would like it to be the last. 3:30 in the morning is an awful time to start your day. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

One more reminder...You only have today and tomorrow to donate for our board break-a-thon coming up on Saturday. All of our donations have to be handed in when we sign in to the event on Saturday. So far our little team (the three Stahr ladies) has raised $420. We are very proud of that total. So chip in if you can. The link is on the sidebar to donate online. Thanks again!

Tomorrow is Hero Day at school. Jeremiah took the day off so he can join Jamie's morning kindergarten class since they miss out on the parade and ceremony that is held in the afternoon. The class if very excited that he will be there tomorrow. Then we all get to go back for the afternoon festivities!

Adam has night terrors. They seem to be triggered by being over tired. We generally just stay with him in his room until he relaxes and can settle again, but there is a big age difference between him and Mazie. We also try to talk about it during the day when things aren't so scary. Hope you find a way to calm her.
