Our Big Surprise

So I should explain something. We have always treated the kids with their potty training. We took Mazie to Disneyland to see Cinderella to tell her of her successes on the potty. She was so thrilled to do this and enjoyed her day. Jamie wanted to tell Winnie the Pooh and did just that when she was successful with potty training. We aren't sure if Pooh heard her but, nonetheless, she told him and was proud to do so. We figured that Jacob would love to tell Sir Toppham Hatt about his successes. This was our big surprise last weekend. We decided to head to Golden, CO to check out the trains at the Colorado Railroad Museum. We picked a weekend that not only worked with our busy schedule but happened to be the same weekend Thomas the Tank Engine and Sir Toppham Hatt would be there. As you can see, Sir Toppham Hatt was way too scary for Jacob to face. He held his cheeks and closed his eyes and buried his head into my shoulder instead of looking at him...
But the trains were a totally different story. He had to touch every seat in this one...
It was the caboose that was displayed near the smaller version of trains running. The kids thought it was cool to see them all moving...
This one blew bubbles as it chugged along...
I love this picture...
Then we caught a glimpse of the train we were going to ride...
Yep, that's right. We had tickets to ride on Thomas and Jacob was shocked to see him...
We had time to tour around the inside the museum.
Mazie really understood that someone (or many people) had to work on this to keep it running. I think she appreciate all the work that went into the model...
It was complete with running trains and other moving pieces...
Even a little carnival. The ferris wheel and other rides moved as well. There was even a drive in that was showing a Thomas movie...
Then it was our time to ride on Thomas' Train. The kids were so excited while we waited for the rest of the passengers to board...
I was even there...
This picture just makes me smile. My favorite men...
The kids yelled "all aboard" with everyone else and then we were off checking out the rest of the trains...
After about 5 minutes, Jacob was out. Don't worry he didn't really miss the ride. Just took a quick cat nap...
We went at our own pace and checked out the other trains we saw while on our ride. The girls were all excited about posing for me...
It was fun to explore the trains and just go at our own pace. The kids had so much fun checking them out. Jacob, especially, was in heaven!
The girls even got to push this level which pushed a train car in a circle. It weighed 50 tons!
The guy stopped it when the girls told me to try. It was hard to start up again but went smoothly as we got it going...
Mazie found a #7 train car. She had to pose beside it, you know, since she is seven...
Jamie couldn't find a #5 so she decided #15 was close enough. Not for a long time, sweetie...
But Jacob was too excited about seeing #2...
So even though Jacob didn't actually tell Sir Toppham Hatt that he has been doing an awesome job with potty training, it was a fun day. The girls (and us old parents) had so much fun too. Jacob talked about Thomas the whole way home and was very happy about our day!

Woohoo Jacob. Potty trained already. I'm so jealous. I'm going to have to look up the next time Thomas is here. My boys love those trains.
