Running

This morning I ran a 10K. I know, crazy, right? It was strictly a training run, meaning I wasn't doing this for a special time but to see what it felt like to run a 10K. Well, I tell you, it felt great! I was tired but felt so good at the end. This isn't to say that I ran fast or broke any records but I did well for my first one. I ran 6.2 miles in 1 hour 11 minutes and 1.15 seconds! You can go here for other results. I feel really great that I did what I wanted to this morning and that was to run as much of the 6.2 miles as I could. I walked a total of 2 minutes during the run. I was kind of expecting to and I was glad that I was able to limit it to just two minutes.

So here is my fan club...

They got up super early to watch me start the race and then drove to the finish (since it was a point to point run) and waited for me there. And what did my posse do while I was running? They played at the park which was right near the finish line...

and had snacks at the finish line...

I could hear them from the trail. It was a great picker-upper. I really needed to hear them cheering me on...

and what could get you across the finish line better than some awesome high fives from your favorite support group?

My answer: nothing! Thanks for supporting me!

Last night as I was going to bed I was thinking, what am I doing getting up at 5am to get ready and eat something and get to a race and run 6.2 miles. But after running, finishing, and doing better than I was expecting, I have to say that I am really enjoying this running thing. It feels good, even with the huge open rub burn that I acquired from the timing chip strap. I love that the girls (and someday, Jacob, too) are excited about it. I love that Jeremiah and I are enjoying this together. I love how I feel when I accomplish the next goal. I owe Amy a debt of gratitude for getting me started. Thanks, a million!
