Potty Training 101

For those of you who have asked, this is our secret for potty training...This book Toilet Training in Less than A Day is amazing. It teaches you how to get your child to grasp the concept of potty training. It really makes it click in their heads. I bought this book two years ago thinking there was no way it would work. I read it and tried it on Mazie and it was unbelievable. There was no yelling or fighting about accidents and there was little stress. The only thing I wish we would have done was buy the book before we decided to use Pampers EasyUps on Mazie. This time we didn't use them with Jamie. She was ready to go and is very happy that she isn't using diapers anymore. Now she says, "diapers for babies".

To not be completely deceptive here, I feel the need to let you all in on another secret. This book teaches you how to teach your child to go to the potty instead of the diaper. Meaning, in one day you will teach your child to use the potty and they will understand to do this. This does not mean they will use the potty 100% right away. Jamie went through the training on Saturday. We are still working through accidents but she understands what she needs to do. Right now it is all about timing and Jamie figuring out how long she can wait until she needs to be on the seat. So far today, for example, she has had only one "mess". She has "peed" on the potty every time she needed to. It will be at least a week before we go accident free completely. Mazie still has an accident from time to time.

Also, you do need a potty seat or potty chair (we found the seat to work better) and an assortment of training pants.

So I hope this helps those of you who will need it (and wanted the advice) for your little ones. Let me know how it works if you chose to try it.
