Jacob has arrived!

Have some patience with my blogging please... this is Dad here, and Jacob arrived just over 24 hours ago.

For those waiting for a weight-contest winner, suffice it to say, no one came close! Jacob is the real winner here, weighing in at a bouncing 10 lbs 2.2 oz!!! He was born at 8:01 AM 26 March 2007 and has already been fighting mom on breast-feeding.

For those that don't believe the 10 lb mark (we still don't either!!), here is one of the very first pictures of Jacob after he was delivered. He's about 6 or 7 minutes old in this picture on the scale in the OR. Yep, that says 10 lbs 2.2 oz. Did I mention that already?!

Here is mommy's first opportunity to hold Jacob. Eyes wide open wondering where his next meal is coming from! I'm not sure if Megan realizes this yet or not, but Jacob is the first of our 3 children that she got to hold first. For Mazie and Jamie, I was able to carry them from the scale over to her lying on the OR table. For Jacob, the OR baby-nurse insisted that mom get to hold him first. I may have had the smallest split second of jealousy (we've had a routine, ya know...), but I guess Megan does deserve the honors after CARRYING A 10 LB BABY BOY! ((really, did I mention that yet?))

I couldn't help but include this picture. Shameless dad, I know... The nurse snapped this one of us right before Megan had to give up Jacob to the nursery while she got stitched up and headed for the recovery room.

Here is Jacob about 5 hours old in our room at the hospital. Looks a lot like the girls' first pictures as well!

Here is Mazie's first photo. She was 2 days old still in the hospital. A very striking resemblance, although Mazie had much more hair...

And here is Jamie's first "official photo" at 3 days old in the hospital. One thing is for certain, these kids didn't waste any time opening up their eyes and drinking in the world!!

I leave you with one final photo for this post. My big, beefy boy. Seriously, did I say anything about the 10 lb mark yet? I mean, who wouldn't be proud?! A great big boy and the world's greatest mother to carry him, love him, and care for him. Sorry to all viewers out there, but Mazie, Jamie, and Jacob are the real winners here. They really do have the best mom in the world - hands down!

I didn't mean to imply that no one wins the weight-guessing contest... Because Jacob broke the scale, Megan needs some time to think about the winning gift!

Mom and baby are still doing very well. Should be able to come home tomorrow (Thursday). Sorry, no new pix today, just running home for a quick shower and then back to the hospital. Thanks for checking in and for all the good wishes!! Not only do the kids {wow, I can't say 'the girls' anymore} have the best mom in the world, but our family has the best friends in the world! Thanks!
