Friday Five: Updates

1. Jamie hasn't sucked her thumb since last Friday. With the help of THUM, which you use twice a day, she has been successful. She has been without the THUM since Tuesday night when I accidentally forgot to put it on her thumb after bath. She woke up Wednesday morning and I confessed that I forgot. Instead of getting upset that I forgot, she was pleasantly surprised with herself that she didn't suck her thumb anyway and didn't really need the stuff. So Wednesday we didn't use it but we kept it handy "just in case". Also she hasn't been feeling well. We all have a little cough and sniffles going around us and even though she didn't feel well, she didn't need her thumb. She was very happy (and boosted) with everything you said in the comments below. We are so, so very proud of you, Jamie Bo Squirt!

2. I have a parent/teacher conference with Mazie's second grade teacher next week. Her teacher called me today to make sure the time was ok and to make sure that Mazie was along. She is supposed to lead the conference. Her teacher also said that she really isn't going to be going over anything academic because she is doing really well. It's just a formality since this will be our first conference together. It should be interesting.

3. Jacob is quite the protector. The other night, Jeremiah was chasing the girls. Jacob ran as fast as he could to get between Jeremiah and the girls, all the while yelling (with his hand up in the air for effect) "no, no, noah". Jeremiah and I couldn't stop laughing. Maybe Jacob will still do this when they are teens. He can stand at the door with his hand up, yelling, "no, no, noah" in (hopefully) a lower voice!

4. It has been blistery, blustery around here lately. Super winds blowing the garbage can over, the recycling bin down the street, crazy winds.

5. We are having a flooring guy come to our house tomorrow to give an estimate on putting in a hard wood floor in the dining area and resurfacing the kitchen floor. I can't wait to get it done. Who puts carpet in the dining area anyway?

Happy weekend!

GO Jamie, go!!

We tired THUM today- I just walked into Ashleigh's room after bedtime, and sure enough that thing was stuck up in her mouth. ACK! Do you put just on the fingernail or smother her entire thumb because I'm thinking I did it wrong if that cayenne pepper tastes good?

Susie, I just put it on Jamie's fingernail. I don't think it will hurt her to have it all over her thumb though. I have to point out that Jamie really wanted to stop sucking her thumb. She just needed some help. It was her idea to do it. Keep trying!
