Playing at the Table

Tonight we discovered something. Jamie will eat if we feed the food to her. Not unlike when she was a baby and couldn't eat on her own. She will eat almost all of her supper if one of us is feeding her. At this point, I will do anything to get her to eat more than just cheese and chocolate!

It all started with her asking for help to get some noodles onto her fork. She had already polished off her two meatballs (which was a victory for us all by itself). Jeremiah would wrap a couple of noodles on her fork and she would feed herself. Then she decided that she was too tired to feed it to herself and since dad was already getting the food ready, why not just feed it to her, right?

Since Mazie apparently was in desperate need of attention from dad, he did the same to her. She was pretty much finished eating by this point but a few more noodles wasn't going to hurt! Mazie is the bottomless pit of the family (even more so than dad!).

Now before anyone gets upset at these photos, neither of the girls were hurt in anyway. Neither of them ended up choking or spitting out their food. Neither of them were letting it all into their mouths which is why it ended up working so well. It turned out to be a wonderful game where dad got to do all the work. It was a silly night at the table.

There is a method to our madness, however. Jamie may have thought she was playing a fun game and getting away with playing at the table. The only thing she got away with was a full belly! When we realized she was actually eating instead of just playing, we just kept going until she said, "I'm finished!" She almost (almost) ate as much as when eating chicken nuggets (her favorite). We are very happy about that fact!
