Board Break-A-Thon

Our taekwondo schools do an annual board break-a-thon where 100% of the proceeds go to a local charity. This is the 4th annual board break-a-thon and the girls and I are going to be apart of it.

The charity this year is America's Family. It is a local non-profit foundations helping working poor families, individuals, and single parent homes experiencing a temporary financial crisis. This organization gives these families the resources they need to get out of poverty and stay out.

We are giving 5 boards to break any way we chose (except with our heads-haa). What we are to do is go and ask for pledges to break each of these boards. The goal of the taekwondo center is to raise $50,000. We also have ask for the donation upfront so they can calculate how close we are to our goal. It's pretty much a given that we will break our boards since we get to chose the technique!

We, as a family, would like to raise $200 towards that goal. If you are interested in donating, you can send a check made out to America's Family or go to http://www.ustcbreakathon.com/ and donate online. If you are in the Colorado Springs area and would like to cheer us on, you can come to Mr. Bigg's on Saturday, September 12 from 10am to 2pm.

Our master asked Jamie how much per board she would ask for. She responded, "$100 per board, sir". I think, since she really doesn't understand money yet, $1 per board would be just wonderful. More would be even better!

Oh, and the donation is tax deductible. If you need the tax id number please email me at meganstahr @ hotmail dot com and I will send it to you.

We appreciate anything you can donate. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a worthy cause! It appalls me that anyone in this great country needs to struggle just to make ends meet (and then even falls short). I will send you a check, but please tell Jamie not be disappointed - I can't match her request! Good luck and thanks to all three of you for lending a helping hand.

I wanted to make sure you get credit for our donation since it really didn't have a place to specify who we are supporting. We donated $20 to help you meet your goal. Good luck and have fun.
