2. We had a hail of a storm on Sunday afternoon. Like the yard couldn't absorb the water fast enough. It was pouring that hard. You can also be certain that it was very loud. Lots of hail, thunder, and lightening.
3. Did anyone read about the San Antonio woman who was being spoken to by the devil? She dismembered and decapitated her 3 week old son and ate his brains. The officer who was making the statement to the press said he couldn't say any more about what she had done because it was too gruesome. The stuff he told the press wasn't? I am sick to my stomach that this happened.
4. An old high school classmate of mine died in a car accident last week. It was the day before her 32 birthday. I am so sad for her little boy. We've been friends since the first grade. She took me on my first horseback riding adventure. She also made me hold my first animal, a kitten. I used to be terrified of anything that moved until then. Her funeral was on Monday. She will be missed.
5. We have a family fun surprise for the kids tomorrow afternoon. It will be one of our last outings as a family before school starts. The kids have no idea what it is.

6. Speaking of school, it starts on Wednesday next week. Well, for Mazie it starts on Wednesday. Jamie starts on August 10. The district starts the half-day kindergarteners the next week so they don't get caught up in the back to school excitement.
7. Mazie received a cute little post card from her third grade teacher this weekend. She is so happy to know who her teacher is and what room she will be going to on Wednesday.
8. Jamie also received a letter from the school stating she will definitely be in morning kindergarten. She is super happy about this since she know the teacher. She is a mom of one of her friends from preschool. Familiarity is Jamie's best friend. We meet her teacher next week!
9. Jeremiah's going away lunch is on Friday. He is transitioning to his new job at Schriever AFB next week. The kids are excited that they get to eat lunch at Daddy's office, even though it's not at his office.
10. Today we got our back to school haircuts. Mazie wanted to look the part for a third grader, whatever that means. So she asked to have her hair trimmed all around since she is trying to grow it longer and she wanted her bangs to push to the side. This is what we got...

Great haircuts, kids - you all look great. Jacob does look older with his cut, but so do Mazie and Jamie. Have fun on your outing tomorrow.
I am so sorry to hear about your friend & that story IS awful. I love the new haircuts especially Jacob's rad do.
I'm diggin' the wax and spikes! I have no boys, so it's ultra cool to me.
I'm also sorry to hear of your friends passing. It's a real bummer on many accounts. Hold on tight to your memories, Megan.
Sorry about losing Samantha...so sad for her son.
On a lighter note....love the "doos"....the girls look great but Jacob looks foxy....better keep an eye on him!:-)
